Diligently Monitor Tension Participate Sehatkan Kidney

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - If you want a healthy kidney, diligent monitoring of blood pressure. Do not you have high blood pressure or hypertension. According to the Chairman of the Indonesian Association of Nephrology (PERNEFRI) dr. Dharmeizar, hypertension is one of the causes of chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Hypertension according to data from the Indonesian Renal Registry accounts for 35 percent of the highest causes of CKD among other factors. In addition to hypertension, kidney disease can also be caused by diabetes mellitus, and other diseases related to the kidneys, such as kidney stones are not cured, polycystic kidney disease, and chronic glomerulonephritis.
PGK is a disease with a high prevalence in Indonesia, which is based on data from a survey conducted PERNEFRI recently reached 30.7 million people. According to data from PT Askes, there are approximately 14.3 million people with kidney disease level final (PGTA) which is currently undergoing treatment, ie with a prevalence of 433 perjumlah population.
The high prevalence of CKD should be aware, since the disease is not curable, but can only be slowed development.
"Patients with chronic kidney disease kidney function can never go back to normal and have to undergo lifelong treatment," said Dharmeizar who is also a medical specialist in pathology Hospital dr. Ciptomangunkusumo (RSCM) in a press conference commemorating world kidney day in Jakarta, Wednesday (06/03/2013).
PGK is different from other kidney diseases such as kidney stones or urinary tract infections due to reduced renal function. PGK is a decline in kidney function slowly but surely so that at any given moment will lead to kidney failure.
According to information from Dharmeizar, CKD is characterized by the presence of kidney damage over 3 months as defined by structural or functional abnormalities, with or without a decrease in glomerular filtration rate (LFG). However it can also be marked with LFG less than 60 mL per minute for more than 3 months with or without kidney damage.
Treatment for late stage CKD on the stage, said Dharmeizar, requiring renal replacement therapy, including dialysis or hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, until a kidney transplant.
"To cope with chronic kidney disease course have no additional deployment of central treatment, but pencegahanlah the most important," he said.
The same thing also expressed by the kidney and hypertension specialist dr. Parlindungan Siregar. In the same occasion, he said that prevention efforts need to be done to reduce the prevalence of CKD.
"Why is prevention important? For the treatment of chronic kidney disease is very expensive. Imagine, hemodialysis year to spend Rp 50 to Rp 80 million, Rp 250 kidney transplants reached to USD 350 million, annually takes care anymore which reached Rp 75 to Rp 150 million, "he said.
