Advantages and Disadvantages That Dangerous Sleep

Previous studies have shown if naps make healthy and long life. However, a recent study reported that the incidence actually napping in the elderly can accelerate dementia.

The scientists in the Alzheimer's Association International Conference agrees that the advantages and disadvantages of sleep each day affects the mental decline over the past two years.

"We know that sleep patterns change as we age and lack of sleep can affect your overall health," said Dr. William Thies of the Alzheimer's Association, quoted by Medical daily.

Previously, researchers from Brigham and Woman's Hospital, Boston, has examined data on more than 15,000 people aged 70 years and over.

As a result, participants who slept five hours or less with those who slept nine hours or more a day had an average lower cognitive ability than those who slept only seven hours per day.

Another study of 4900 people over the past eight years found those who experience frequent drowsiness during the day are more prone to excess decreased cognitive performance. This proves that having insomnia or trouble sleeping at night associated with cognitive decline.

In fact, another separate study showed that people with sleep apnea or respiratory disorders / snoring risk twice as likely to develop mild cognitive impairment, which is an early symptom of Alzheimer's.
