Be careful, Loneliness Can Make You Senile


VIVAlife - Feeling sad, unhappy, or upset? Beware negative emotional states such as these can lead you to be lonely. And a recent study noted if this loneliness can lead to Alzheimer's disease or dementia.

Theory says that loneliness is a health risk factor, due to the lack of ability of a person to contact with the environment. Are researchers from the Amsterdam Study of the Elderly which was then doing research on 2000 people, who live without symptoms of dementia. These are people who live alone and living with others.


The results showed that those who feel lonely are two times more likely to develop dementia. The feeling of loneliness is actually a result of mental decline, which in turn affects social skills.

Not only that, the feeling of loneliness is closely related to a person's lack of sensitivity to the environment. It is also revealed to participants who lived with others. Thus, feeling very lonely person an opportunity risk of dementia later in life. But there is the best way to reduce the risk of attack: exercising, eating a healthy diet, and not smoking.

"Age remains the greatest risk factor of this disease., However in this study, the feeling of loneliness is also a higher risk factor than the other conditions," said Dr. Simon Ridley, one of the researchers from the UK Alzheimer's institute, was quoted as saying in the Daily Mail.
