Eligible for Midwives Money Service Centre Under Conditions

Jakarta, Kompas - Although already received a monthly salary, midwives are entitled to fees pursuant to Labor Insurance program. The local government has no right to cut the fees it for any reason.

"Money midwives to maintain a balance of work in the field of health and hospitals," said Director General of Nutrition and Maternal and Child Health Ministry of Health (MoH) Slamet Riyadi Yuwono, in Jakarta, Sunday (10/2).

In Delivery Assurance system (Jampersal) new midwives deserve Rp 20,000 for each inspection before delivery (4 times) and after birth (4 times). Services delivered Rp 500,000 per delivery.
However, some local governments (local government) issued a local regulation that cut fees on the grounds midwives have received regular salary or governments still bear a number of tools childbirth.
These cuts make midwife services receive very little money. As a result, many midwives still asking money from mom or home users Jampersal refer to the hospital.
Last month, the Ministry of Health sent a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA) to remind local governments to give money midwives in accordance with the provisions. Government support is needed so that the maternal mortality rate (MMR) can be immediately suppressed.
Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey 2007 said, MMR was 228 per 100,000 live births. In fact, the 2015 targets as much as 102 per 100,000 live births.
First Chairman of the Indonesian Midwives Association Nurjasmi Emi said, to reduce maternal mortality need the cooperation of all sectors. The issue of maternal mortality is not just the responsibility of the health sector, but also in other development sectors.
Many midwives who work in remote areas not supported adequate facilities, such as water and electricity. Consequently, they can not be delivered properly.
"Unfortunately, if the presence of a midwife in the village is not utilized just because there is no support facilities," he said.
The high maternal mortality also triggered the limited access to health facilities. Therefore, the construction of roads and provision of transport for pregnant women to health facilities is absolutely necessary.
To resolve other issues that helped trigger maternal mortality, according to Slamet, Ministry of Health plans to hold a coordination meeting with MOHA, the Ministry of Public Works, and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. AKI decrease the government's priority for the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.Sources: http://health.kompas.com/read/2013/02/11/07390246/
