Research: Jealousy can be categorized as Mental Illness

Italian scientists from the University of Pisa find regions of the human brain that can make everyone have a wonderful feeling jealous, when the area was affected. It is, as quoted from Genius Beauty, conducted involving patients with schizophrenia, alcohol addiction, and Parkinson's disease.

Such diseases accompanied by symptoms of jealousy. According to Donatella Marazzi, head of research who is also a neuropsychiatrist, if jealousy is a very natural feeling, the scientists noticed a biochemical imbalance in the body that can turn these feelings into a dangerous obsession.

In extreme form, jealousy can cause dire consequences, namely to encourage someone to commit suicide or kill other people.

Brain regions studied include the ventromedial prefrontal cortex, which governs feelings such as empathy and guilt. Areas of the amygdala, which is responsible for the state of fear, anxiety, jealousy also examined.

Scientists believe that jealousy is a pathological disease, also known as Othello syndrome. Someone who has this disorder should immediately consult with a psychiatrist to prevent dangerous both for themselves and their partners.
